A congratulatory message to the Caliph of Sheikh Tijani, My master the closest of Allah Abu bakr Atiku.

THE COMPOSER:

 *Usman Bn Muhammad As Sakkwaty*  is one of the most beloved disciples to Sheikh Abubakr Atiku, he died early during the lifetime of His master Sheikh Atiku, the later is very shock with the demise of Usman to the extent that he used to cry whenever he recites some poems Usman used to recite on Maulud day.

Dr Sanusi Atiku told me that he can remember that many times Shehu Atiku is becoming so sensitive and cry a lot on Maulud day and sometime people used to took  him to his home, as he remember his beloved Murid Usman. 

We can also see how Atiku loved him through Sheikh Nasiru Kabara who composed a poem of condolence to Atiku he wrote in this poem:

تركت عتيقا في الهوى وابن ناصر

                 وأحباب صدق يرتجيك على النوى

"you have gone and left Atiku and Nasiru in an emotional longing, together with all beloved brothers who liked you in same path" 

The date of Usman's death is not known, but according to a piece of Manuscript in which Sheikh Atiku wrote a poem by Usman, atiku wrote:

"He composed it on the day of Maulud seven days before his death." 

However, in 2018 I asked Malam Yahya Salihu Kurna (one of the remaining disciple of Atiku) about Usman he said "I never meet him as he left for his village in Sokoto 2 years before I came to the house of Sheikh Atiku as Murid, and now I have 60 years since my arrival". 

Usman bn Muhammad has some great poems such as the elegy he composed after the demise of Sheikh Abubakr Mijinyawa (Atiku narrated it in his book Majmu' Arba' kutub) and a poem called Nafhat Alkahtmiyyah 

THE POEM

On Sunday 11th October 1942, which remark the enx of The holy month of Ramadan 1361AH Sheikh Usamn Bn Muhammad As Sakkwati wrote a poem letter to his Sheikh and master Alhaji Abubakar Atiku wishing him Happy Eid (Barka da Sallah) in advance, as we can see in the below Arabic verses he started with wishing long life in good condition

"long life in the shadow of greetings and happiness whenever the month of Shawwal approaches after Ramadan, 

Oh my master sit on the chair of full gratitude forever.

You may have happiness by the attendance of festival (Eid) wearing the cloths of congratulations with happy mind."

And continue praying and wishing him a happy life, mixed with eulogy of Atiku in a very elegant and eloquent style, before he proceed to tawassul (intermediation) with the names of saints in his Tijaniya chain (sisila) the silsila contains the following saints:

Sheikh Muhammad Salga

Sheikh Muhammad Alfa Hashim Alfuty

Sheikh Said Alfuty

Sheikh Elhadji Umar Alfuty

Sheikh Muhammad Alghali

Sheikh Ahmad Tijani.

Then he said "(Atiku) you are my intermediary to them (th saints mentioned above) and I swear by Arrahman you are my key to open this door.

I will never seen taking another person as my intermediary because I stopped all my wish on your hand henceforth I will never take someone as my shelter forever. 

He mentioned also that he is rich to approach anyone so Atiku should give him the divine flood, asking him to open his heart with Salatil Fatih (open my heart with the prayer of opener)

Lastly, as it was the nature of Arabic poetry in West Africa he concluded by salat upon the Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

THE MANUSCRIPT:

The poem is written in Magribi writing style

 Below is what is written in the manuscript in two pages, below is what it contain. 

وثيقة التهاني إلى خليفة الشيخ التجاني، مولاي أبي بكر عتيق ذي التداني. نظم العبد الفقير ذي الجناح الكسير عثمان الصكتي.

 

     بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم 

وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وسلم

عش في ظلال تحية وتهاني

       ما أقبل الشوال عن رمضان

واجلس على كرسي فضل وافر

          يا سيدي في سائر الأزمان

فلك الهنا بشهود عيد لابسا

        أثواب {تهنئة} بطيب جنان

شكر الإله لك المساعي كلها

      وجزاك خيرا عن أولي الإيمان

وتقبل المولى صيامك سيدي

      وصيام باقي سائر الإخوان

ويريك من أمثاله في راحة

            متقلبا في صحة وأمان

ولكل من جا للتهاني جوائز

        وجوائزي أن تمنحوا بأمان

يا نائب التجاني ها أنا طامع

       في فيضكم بالسر والإعلان

لا تهملوني إنني من غرسكم

      فاسقوه لا يزوي مع الحدثان

وببابكم {عثمان} جا متكففا

         لا تنهروه أيا أولي العرفان

قولوا له أهلا وسهلا مرحبا

    واسقوه شاي السر في الكيزان

وخذوا يديه تفضلا وتكرما

       واسقوه فيضا غامر العرفان

إن تتركوني مهملا يا خيبتي

             يا ضيعة الأيام للحرمان

لا تأخذوني من قصوري سادتي

     فالصفح دأب القوم والعدناني

إني لمعترف بأني مقصر

         عن أن أؤدي حقكم بلساني

أو بالجوارح خدمة لجنابكم

           أو باعتقادي ذلكم بجَناني

لم لا {وجاه الشيخ حرمة ربه} 

     لا عتب في جهد المقل العاني

عطفا على ترب النعال نعالكم

           جا طالبا الإمداد بالإذعان

متوسلا ب"محمد" و"محمد"

        الهاشمي وسعيدنا ذوالشان

وبشيخه وإمامه وملاذه

       "عمر" الهمام العارف الرباني

 وبقطبنا الغالي الشريف محمد

      ذي الفيض بحر يرتمي بجمان

وخليفة المختار سيدنا أبي ال

           عباس أحمد منقذ للجاني

أنت الوسيلة لي إليهمأنت مف

            تاح لتلك الباب تالرحمان

أنا لا أرى متكففا لسواكم

       أنتم رجائي فامسكوا بعناني

وعليكم قصرت آمالي فلا 

            آوي لغيركم مدى الأزمان

أنا في غنى عن غيركم ياسادتي

                منوا عليّ بهاطل هتان

بصلاة فتح فافتحوا قلبي وقد

       يحظى بفتح بعد ذاك جناني

صلى الإله مع السلام على النبي

         والآل والأصحاب والإخوان

ورضاه عن تجّاني مع أصحابه

            {ما غرد القمري بالألحان} 

وتلا المريد الورد أو ما أنشدت

    {عش في ظلال تحية وتهاني} 

  

   يوم الأحد سلخ شهر رمضان

           ٣٠ سنة١٣٦١ هجرية. 

 ونسخت هذه النسخة ليلة العيد

               بخط الناظم.
